Starting NOW thru midnight OCTOBER 31st, the Creative Glass Guild of Etsy (CGGE) members will launch a special scavenger hunt with gorgeous glass prizes. Participating member shops will also be holding special pre-holiday sales as well!

One winner will receive a stunning silver leaves goddess pendant donated by dyzart. Contest runs October 24-31
To play, you must be an Etsy member. It’s EASY, sign up here if you are not a member already: www.etsy.com

Search each participating shop listed below to find a hidden Candy Corny image. Each participating shop has ONE Candy Corny hidden somewhere in a listing. When you find one, make a note of the shop name, and the item number shown in the address window of that item. For example, if you found a Candy Corny here: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=285136 Jot down "creationsinglass 285136" (shop name and item number).

Remember she may be hiding ANYWHERE in a shop. Simple!

When you've found all of the Candy Cornys, send a convo to Kris & Peggy at http://www.creationsinglass.etsy.com with all your answers.

The contest will run for one week, Oct, 24-31. After midnight Oct. 31, our CGGE judges will check all of the entries for correct Candy Corny sightings.

Winners are the entries with the most correct sightings. In the likely event of a tie, the three winners will be drawn at random from all the correct entries. The lucky, clever winners will be notified via convos on Nov. 1, and their names will be published before the cheering throngs on our website and in the Etsy forums.

CGGE members are not allowed to participate, but will join in, chat and cheer contestants on in the thread while you are searching for the Candy Corny!

The Creative Glass Guild of Etsy (CGGE) would like to announce our Sunday Street Team Trivia Challenge!  On August 26^th at 4pm PST (7pm EST, 10pm UK) , CGGE members will host our FIRST Sunday Street Team Trivia Contest.

Creative Glass Guild of Etsy~ August Challenge: Glass ACEO’s

 

The Creative Glass Guild of Etsy (CGGE) would like to announce our August Team Challenge!  During the month of July, CGGE members rose to the challenge of creating “Glass ACEO’s”

 

What are ACEO’s?  ACEO stands for 'Art Cards, Editions and Originals'. They are collectible miniature artworks that can be created in any variety of media - originals or prints. The main "rule" is that they measure 3.5 x 2.5 inches.

Many ACEO buyers are collectors and some will either buy larger pieces or recommend you to friends who may purchase from you.

"The art on the cards can be done in any media: textile arts, pencil, watercolor, acrylic, oil, collage, scratch board, mixed media, assemblage, digital art, calligraphy, beadwork, rubber stamps, carved soft block stamps, pen and ink, colored pencil, airbrush, and many others - anything artists use." During the month of August we will continue to create new Glass ACEO’s and would like to invite ALL Glass Artists on Etsy to participate.  We will be featuring the Glass Aceo’s on our website http://www.cgge.org/challenge.aspx and we will be creating a number of treasuries to include all participating glass artists.

We are so excited here at creationsinglass, this was our FIRST time to make it to the Front Page, it has been a goal of ours as we are nearing our First Year Etsyversary! It was like winning the lottery, such a great feeling J  I called Mom and Dad to tell them, but alas by the time they logged onto Etsy, the front page had changed. *sniff * sniff

• Glasshousejewelry suggested a style hive. A social shopping site where everyone sends her an image from their shop that they want to promote.

• Newsletter – can be sent via email when people sign up for it. We can send out sales and promotions to customers. Getglassy can send official CGGE emails if she has all members’ email addys. Also can add a How to become a Member application page to website.

CGGE shop on Etsy for members to donate products to raise funds for external advertising. We don’t have a shop yet and  will wait until Jelveh returns with a plan.

CinG replied no, tags just make items searchable and will pull them into the “shop CGGE” tab on the website, but purchasing goes to members shops.

• Maybe current bloggers can put together a quick “how to get started” for members who are new to blogging.
• Blogging appears to be a way to drive new web browsers to Etsy, when they never might have heard of Etsy before, resulting in more Etsy traffic hopefully resulting in more buyers.
2. Continue creating treasuries featuring other CGGE members
• Post link to treasuries so other CGGE members can check them out and click on each link and post comments driving treasury up to front pages for more visibility.
3. As a group, pick a fellow volunteered CGGE member per week to critique their Esty shop with friendly, helpful suggestions to boost shop appearance, content, etc. resulting in increased sales and overall professionalism of the CGGE group.
• At first glance, it appears that many CGGE members are relatively new to Etsy or are still figuring out what it takes to get more sales in their Etsy store, myself included.
• I think we can all benefit from each others honest, opinions on what works well or not so well in each others shops and use this info to tweak the weak areas.
4. Photographing glass can be particularly challenging. With the wide variety of glass artists in the group, can we create a “How To” resource for sharing great tips for photographing various glass creations in the best light possible to increase sales.
5. Have all members list CGGE and www.CGGE.org in their Shop Announcement or in their Profile so it can be a way for buyers to surf from one member to another once they get to www.CGGE.org.

 

 

 

 

FINAL VERSION MISSION STATEMENT 

 

NAME: Creative Glass Guild of Etsy (CGGE) or “Glass Guild” for short!

REGION:  Global

ETSY SHOP: Coming Soon!

PROFILE:  We are a non-juried glass group that is open to everyone who uses glass as their medium.   We ask that members “STRIVE FOR FIVE” meaning that we ask all members to have AT LEAST 5 “glass” items in their shops at all times.  Membership is based on inclusiveness and member involvement; not strict rules, organizational structures and exclusivity.  We strive to create a team with diverse backgrounds and wide-ranging levels of success & experience.  Therefore, we aim to welcome everybody who works with glass, despite their associations or current skill levels.  We hope to foster a teaching environment where new members can learn from experienced mentors via shared knowledge and constructive critiques.

The CGGE is steered by a “leadership committee” of 3-5 co-leaders, who rely on member input and majority rule to make decisions that affect the team.  We are open to suggestions from our members and welcome initiative, creativity and diversity.  The “leadership committee” may change at any time, based on who is passionate and dedicated to seeing this group become successful!

Our GOALS are:

* To foster an open, creative and supportive environment for all glass artists
* To learn and share glass techniques from each other
* To share information and knowledge gained from outside the group and contribute to the Etsy community
* To promote CGGE members' shops and glass-related activities

* To promote ETSY as a site for handmade items at our craft fairs and shows that we attend

Discussed:

Profile/mission statement?
Group agreed it was OK and covered main points.

CIG asked if she should contact Trashion and Merritt to ask if profile wording too similar to theirs?
                                    DD agreed that it would be courteous.
                                    Lawatha suggested we reword it if they don’t like it.

                                    CIG contacted the above contacts and got the OK and/or reworded some of the              statements
                                    Agreed to change Alternative to non-juried as don’t want to offend anyone.

What do we need in a website?

PROFILE:  We are a non-juried glass group that is open to everyone who uses glass as their medium.   We ask that members “STRIVE FOR FIVE” meaning that we ask all members to have AT LEAST 5 “glass” items in their shops at all times.  Membership is based on inclusiveness and member involvement; not strict rules, organizational structures and exclusivity.  We strive to create a team with diverse backgrounds and varied levels of achievement & experience.  Therefore, we aim to welcome everybody who works with glass, regardless of their affiliations or experience.

The CGGE is steered by a “leadership committee” of 3-5 co-leaders, who rely on member input and majority rule to make decisions that affect the team.  We are open to suggestions from our members and welcome initiative, creativity and diversity.  The “leadership committee” may change at any time, based on who is passionate and dedicated to seeing this group become successful!

Our GOALS are:

* To foster an open, creative and supportive environment for all glass artists
* To learn and share glass techniques from each other
* To share information and knowledge gained from outside the group and contribute to the Etsy community
* To promote CGGE members' shops and glass-related activities

*  To promote ETSY as a site for handmade items at our craft fairs and shows that we attend

* To have fun!
