| Happy Holiday's! | |
| I haven't had an actual sale as in "20% off" etc this holiday season. I've been doing ok with actually selling my pieces but I want to try and get some more people looking at my shop, soooo For whoever my 1000 heart is, I will be giving away a FREE, ABSOLUTELY FREE piece of my choosing from my shop :) I have 977 hearts already, so hopefully it won't take long to get a winner! Love & Aloha on this rainy Sunday morning! http://creationsinglass.etsy.com |
YES! I am so excited and pleased to see one our images/pieces on Etsy's front page. As far as I know, we've only been in a front page treasury 2 times. I've been told numerous times that photos are so uber important on Etsy for exposure and selection into treasuries, gift guides etc. So, I embarked on a month long, self taught photo editing adventure, more on that in future posts!
So, the image is a little yellow butterfly suncatcher and it is featured on the front page as part of a series of 4 scrolling images in the upper right hand corner. The images are called Knock Out Images from what I can tell. Here is some more info on how they are chosen etc. http://www.etsy.com/forums_thread.php?thread_id=5641253&page=1
They are clickable directly to the listing in your shop. I noticed this because I was checking the majaba heart-o-tron site to monitor item hearts and views, and I had 3 new hearts in one day on that piece. WOW! So, I thought maybe it was featured in a front page treasury. Then I saw it!
Here is the screen shot! I was playing with Flickr photo editing tools, and accidentally included an extra black arrow mid page, ignore that one!
So, this has resulted in 4 new hearts on that piece, and almost 30 new views to that piece just today. It is really exciting and great exposure. Here are my before & after pics of the image before and after editing in photo shop to make it a pure white background or knockout image! I cropped it square, 6 in X 6 in and basically adjusted curves and used the magic wand tool to outline my piece and then adjusted the curves again in the background to make it pure white. Here is a link to the tutorial I used: http://theswitchboards.com/articles_professionalphotos.html
There are easier and more efficient ways to do this, I'm told, so here are a few other helpful photo-editing links:

I plan on posting more before and after pics in my upcoming blog entries. Stay tuned and I'd love to hear from you!

Oh my, it's been awhile since I blogged, busy with the pregnancy (7 days away from my c-section date) and busy with holiday sales! YAY! My year end goal was to reach 200 sales, and with November and December being my busiest months ever on Etsy, we surpassed our goal, and have 224 sales so far! Thank you to all my customers!
Etsy unveiled a new way to shop, called "Pounce" you can find the feature on the home page of Etsy http://www.etsy.com Basically, it randomly pulls up recenlty sold items, much like time machine2, but then it shows other items from the same shop that are still for sale. Pretty cool!
Anyways, here is a screen shot of us in "Pounce"
Starting NOW thru midnight OCTOBER 31st, the Creative Glass Guild of Etsy (CGGE) members will launch a special scavenger hunt with gorgeous glass prizes. Participating member shops will also be holding special pre-holiday sales as well!

Here’s how to play!
Contest runs October 24-31
To play, you must be an Etsy member. It’s EASY, sign up here if you are not a member already: www.etsy.com
Search each participating shop listed below to find a hidden Candy Corny image. Each participating shop has ONE Candy Corny hidden somewhere in a listing. When you find one, make a note of the shop name, and the item number shown in the address window of that item. For example, if you found a Candy Corny here: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=285136 Jot down "creationsinglass 285136" (shop name and item number).
Remember she may be hiding ANYWHERE in a shop. Simple!
When you've found all of the Candy Cornys, send a convo to Kris & Peggy at http://www.creationsinglass.etsy.com with all your answers.
The contest will run for one week, Oct, 24-31. After midnight Oct. 31, our CGGE judges will check all of the entries for correct Candy Corny sightings.
Winners are the entries with the most correct sightings. In the likely event of a tie, the three winners will be drawn at random from all the correct entries. The lucky, clever winners will be notified via convos on Nov. 1, and their names will be published before the cheering throngs on our website and in the Etsy forums.
CGGE members are not allowed to participate, but will join in, chat and cheer contestants on in the thread while you are searching for the Candy Corny!

Hi!
I am a glass artist on Etsy! I want to make an effort to promote the glass work of others on a non-juried street team open to everybody who works with glass. So I wanted to give some exposure to Other Glass Artists On Etsy!
If you are a glass artist or know a glass artist that would like to be featured in my upcoming treasury, please let me know. I want to provide exposure to some of the other wonderful glass artists I see on Etsy!
If any of you are interested in forming a street team, I'll need A LOT of help, I am really new to all of this, but please definitely contact me with your interests and ideas. Maybe we can start one too, to continue to promote even more glass artists!
Thanks for reading and spreading the word!
I came home to 2 little packages of goodness tonight!!
So, I'm happy to feature some of the extreme yumminess I purchased from some fantastic Etsy sellers! This first pic is of some new "Kawaii" (cute) magnet set from PaperZombie I bought these off a buy & replace treasury (OH THE HORROR) joking, I like them! There I said it. Hahah. They are currently on my kitchen fridge but I will most likely take them in to work to spruce up my dreaded cubicle! They are so cute! Domo Arigato!
Next up, were some freaking adorable Owl Notecards that I purchased from theresamade from the Want a Sale? thread in the Etsy forums. My pics are not great, I'm not a photography wiz, and I was in a hurry, but they are soo cute!
So, the magnets got me thinking, and I want to backtrack and feature my all time FAVORITE magnets ever! I WILL be back for more. They are from mincingmockingbird who has the slyest sense of humor! Gotta love that dude! The captions read "I puke in my kids mouths" "Thems fightin words" "Ah, for fucks sake", "Fahk!" and "I prefer tequilla worms" I just love that sick humor! hahahahah
And lastly, my magnet collection includes these beaties from BellaStyle they are really gorgeous!
Remember those candles I bought from WoodcraftsandCandles? (see below, older post) I am burning the pomegrante martini in my CUSTOM stained glass candle holder that my Mom made! If you want one, convo her at her Etsy shop, creationsinglass! The first is my favorite view of the candle! The glass glows!
Gotta go for now! The bear this morning at breakfast! So Cute!
Ok, I think I want to participate in thing on Etsy on Thursdays, where they show pics of themselves. I think it is called "Self Portrait Thursday"
So here goes! Anyways, this one is me last November with my daughter :) If you don't know by now, I buy A LOT on Etsy ! My MOM is the actual glass artist at creationsinglass I simply help her with the photos, descriptions and computer stuff :) By the way, those earrings I'm wearing in this photo were my first purchase on Etsy from AngelKissesAlaska. You really can't tell how beautiful they are!
Here is a pic of my Mom last Halloween with my daughter! I love you Momma! How cute is my Mom?!
So, Mom had a custom request for a firefly. We had no idea what one looked like, so we googled it and saw a ghastly looking beast of a bug! How the heck do you make that cute?!
*************************************************Drumrolllllllllll************************************************************************
Isn't he CUTE?!! WHAT DO YOU THINK? Honest opinions please!
He is made from 8 pieces of hand cut stained glass, and his eyes and antennae are fused glass beads! Super!
Check it out! I'm pretty happy :) I got some new candles I bought from a buy & replace treasury on Etsy they smell wonderful and I got more than I asked for! The candles are from Woodcrafts & Candles! I also got some beautiful notecards from Saralibbey.
Funny story, I ordered some notecards from another Etsy seller sometime ago. The photos looked great, and the seller was new, but she was all over the threads etc. So I ordered and had some options customized. She told me when I ordered that "it might be a while cause she just moved, it that OK?" I said, "OK, but please get it out ASAP, I'd like to give it as a thank you to my Mother in law" Almost a month later, (I had already ordered other cards from MrsDragon.etsy.com anyways) but I convoed her and she said, "Oh yeah, those just went out" Finally I get them and guess what....NO ENVELOPES! DUH! So, I convoed her back and said that the notecards came with envelopes, but I didn't receive mine. She said "You know... argh, hey did come with envelopes but I guess I didn't send them. Would you want me to send some?" I replied, "Yes, I need them to send out". Her reply "I'm really sorry about this. I will try and search for them tomorrow. " I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED MY ENVELOPES! I really would like to defame this seller here, but I'm not THAT mean. I'm irritated about the whole situation, should I convo again and demand that she send them? Unfortunately, I already left positive feedback, just "got my order, thanks" If this HAD been my first purchase on Etsy, I never would order again, what a jackass! ALL my other experiences on Etsy have been wonderful!
In lighter news, Mom made this awesome CUSTOM hummingbird for KatieBeanKids and we are very pleased with how it came out! If you want one or want to check out our other pieces, we are at www.creationsinglass.etsy.com
Lastly, check out this mug...heheheh, Looks like she's pouting! Too funny! We were looking at houses. Not interested, is her opinion, I take it...
Hello, Hello, Hello !!!
Just what the hell has been going on over here! CRIKEY. Definitely not any blogging. But because the friggin Etsy site it down, I guess I have something to say....
It's really unfortnuate really. I have a serious addiction. It's not meth, or coke, it's much worse...It's freakin Etsy, people I need help. I know this sounds silly but I spend all of my "free" and not so free time trying to rustle up a sale or even worse, shop! I have a family, a home and a full time job, but seriosly I'm on Etsy all the time. I love the pride and happiness that comes with a sale, and can't help wonder if it's because of all the time (and money) I'm investing into the darn thing. I have been doing the treasuries and had some very popular lists! Yay! I spend a lot, toooooo much time on at work, and frankly people are starting to act funny. They are on to me, so I hope it doesn't get back to my boss. One guy walked by my cube like 5x and then stopped and said, "man you are becoming part of that computer, everytime I walk by you are on it" hmmm. My first thought "OH CRAP" second "what can he see" third "hope he doesn't tell anyone"
Trouble is, I should be in the lab, doing science...yeah
It's not even my "art" or my "crafts" I wish it were. It's my Mommas, so that's cool. It's turning into a Momma-Dotta (daughter) endeavor. That is WAAAAY cool. Mom sent me some of her beautiful stained glass butterflies as a thank you, I have them displayed above some plants in a window...
I'm so sad because I have to give one away to a friend who invited us over for Easter dinner. I know she will love it, but I've grown fond of them. I hate asking Mom for more, because she wants to sell them. I tell her I'll buy them and she say's no, for all the help you do, I'm giving them to you. But I still hate to ask! I gave one to my Mother in Law and she LOVED it. These guys make me so happy! I am planning on giving them to the daycare ladies that teach/watch my daughter. She gets to move up to the next room when she walks on her own. I have 4 ladies/teachers to give them too, and will give them with a thank you card that says "Thank you for teaching Claire how to fly, by giving her wings" Lame or nice?
This is one of my alltime favorites, it sold in less than a minute when I posted the link to it in the Want a Sale thread...heheh Thank you Mlsocci74.etsy.com This is made with a beautiful iridized peacock blue glass!
Mom is actually making a custom 3d peacock sculpture out of the same blue glass (see the hummingbird pic below, it will be similar but a peacock!) for laurenrose.etsy.com This hummingbird, Mom made for me, I photographed it on my kitchen table with the big circular desert theme panel she made for me in the background. If you LOVE the hummingbird sculpture, she has a blue one for SALE at creationsinglass.etsy.com for only $45, she normally charges $60 for these.
As mentioned, I have a full time job and a baby (see all my other posts for pics of that little DOLL!) Our house is beautiful, but small. I want to open my own shop, and sell my own craft/art etc (carp?!) but need to first "specialize". I've thought of buying a kiln and doing some small scale glasswork. I too, love glass! I'd love to learn how to torch and make my own lampwork beads etc. but alas I have no workspace or shop. I also LOVE the bath and body products I've been getting. From what I read soap is dangerous to make and again I would want to have a dedicated, isolated space for that. I can't sew, don't even ask...LOL and my handwriting is horrendous. What could be my specialty?...what could be my craft? I like painting and pottery so I may look into that. I've also become somewhat more of a girly girl...trust me I used to be straight up tom-boy (people even thought I was lesbian before I got married!heheh) Not so ladies, sorry to disappoint! I think I might like to try jewelry, but it's a tough cookie on Etsy.

I definitely don't have the time to do much promotion anywhere else, I give cards to people who ask about things I've purchased etc. I'm working on using Etsy as my own mall, for whatever I need, gifts, thank you cards, food, etc. It's working out well, except that I've spent too damn much. Hubby is really starting to wonder! He wants a dirtbike and it's tigtening down the hatches on spending, too bad that I have my own job, and don't want a motorbike, so no tightening down the hatches of my funds. BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Momma's Etsy shop has been doing well, my initial goal was to sell one thing per week, and we are exceeding that :) Trying for 70 sales this week! But, I buy at LEAST that per week. I know a lot of the sales have been attributable to participating in the "Want a Sale?" thread in the promotions area of the forums on Etsy. Basically, you have to buy something from a seller on the "list" then you get added to the list until someone buys from you. It's like a big group trade/swap event but you can make some money, especially if people love your stuff so much and don't care if you are on the list or not, or if they buy duplicates, triplicates etc. (I'm talking about quantity, dudes!)
As I am rambling along, I think this thread needs some pics, some fodder for the eyes! Let me see what I can dig up. If you've made it this far, bless you for your time! Here is my daughter modeling some of my newest purchases! The grape wrap is awesome! It is from Bellaserababy.etsy.com and the hair clip is a chocolate brown polka dot dragonfly clip from TrendyTootsies.etsy.com I am so pleaesd with these purchases as is hubby seen in the right of the photo. Our daughter is our Etsy fashionista! Good bye for now!
